Kera Cream* ~ is my Keratosis Pilaris Cream ~ an All Natural cream formulated for individuals seeking Mother Nature’s remedy* This cream consists of Pure Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils that are known to effectively help Keratosis Pilaris.

Essential Oils for Keratosis Pilaris

Essential oils are highly concentrated liquid substances. They are obtained from the aromatic parts of plants through steam distillation or cold pressing.
These potent liquids contain a multitude of natural chemicals and healing substances. This makes them beneficial for helping many skin conditions including keratosis pilaris. Essential oils help keratosis pilaris by:

• Reducing inflammation
• Softening skin
• Soothing and calming the area
• Killing microbes and germs that aggravate skin and cause pus – filled lesions
• Relieving itchy skin
• Drying out the bumps
• Minimizing redness
• Cooling down the irritated area

“Kera Cream” contains 6 Essential Oils: Lavender, Tea Tree, Roman Chamomile, Frankincense, Lemon & Lemongrass

Lavender ~
Lavender is a popular oil for skin serums and healing concoctions of all sorts, and for good reason! It can support the skin cells to help them regenerate, healing the wounded skin’s lipid protective barrier. It has anti-inflammatory properties, easing the pain and irritation of dry skin. Like tea tree, it has antibacterial properties.

• Lavender oil for the treatment and relief of keratosis pilaris is non-irritant.
• It can soothe inflammation, itching and burning sensations.
• Lavender can also help the skin cells regenerate and build back their protective barrier.
• The oil also protects against infections.

Tea Tree ~
Tea Tree Oil has the ability to help soothe the itching and burning sensations that can often accompany keratosis pilaris. It’s also very antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. Since the dry, itchy skin of KP can suffer secondary infections, tea tree is useful in helping to kill harmful bacteria.

• The oil of Tea Tree has been found effective in the treatment of psoriasis and eczema. This means it can stop the itching or burning sensations, and soothe the pain.
• It is highly antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, which helps in preventing KP infections.

Frankincense~
Native to the Middle East and India, frankincense is now one of the most common essential oils worldwide. Used in Ayurvedic medicine for hundreds of years, Frankincense can also help generate new skin cells.
Frankincense, known as olibanum, is made from the resin of the Boswellia tree. It typically grows in the dry, mountainous regions of India, Africa and the Middle East.
Frankincense has a woody, spicy smell and can be inhaled, absorbed through the skin, steeped into a tea or taken as a supplement.

Roman Chamomile~
Deeply soothing, chamomile can work to calm irritated skin. It’s been shown to have antibacterial activity and can speed wound healing. On reactive skin, like with Keratosis Pilaris, it lowers the skin’s allergic reactivity.
Lemon ~
Based on both scientific research and anecdotal accounts, lemon oil may have the following benefits when it comes to skin care:
• absorbent.
• antibacterial.
• antifungal, such as against Candida yeast.
• astringent.
• conditioning.
• helps decrease hyperpigmentation.

Lemongrass ~
Another great oil for helping to soothe irritation and prevent infection, lemongrass oil can tone and purify the skin. It can relieve the redness, itching, and swelling associated with keratosis pilaris.

Other ingredients include: Organic Shea Butter, Organic Jojoba Oil, Organic Sea Buckthorn Oil, Organic Rosehip Seed Oil, Castor Oil, Organic Argan Oil, Organic avocado Oil, Organic Coconut Oil, Grapeseed Oil

Organic Shea Butter ~
100% Unrefined Ivory Shea Butter
Vegan ~ All Natural
Shea Butter has high concentrations of fatty acids and vitamins, which makes shea butter an ideal cosmetic ingredient for softening skin. Shea butter also has anti-inflammatory and healing properties. Using shea butter on your body, can condition, tone, and soothe your skin.

Organic Jojoba Oil ~
Jojoba oil is a great choice for natural skin care because it is the only oil that resembles human sebum (an oily substance that is naturally produced by your skin), which means it doesn’t clog your pores. It not only moisturizes, but also has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, all of which are helpful in healing KP (and many other skin conditions). Jojoba Oil is a Very Powerful ingredient in “Kera Cream”*

Organic Sea Buckthorn Oil ~
This oil is a Wonder of Nature and has multiple skills for skin problem solving. But for Keratosis Pilaris, it cannot be overlooked!
Sea Buckthorn Oil offers outstanding results.
Extremely rich in Beta-Carotene therefore making it an excellent rejuvenating oil for damaged skin that needs nourishing.

Organic Rose Hip Seed Oil ~
Rich in vitamin E & C and also Vitamin A , which is wonderful for skin conditions such as Keratosis Pilaris. These antioxidants fight free radicals, & promote wound healing, and improve discoloration & scarring.

Castor Oil ~
Castor oil has strong antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, making it an effective ingredient to help fight and prevent blemishes and impurities in the skin
Because it's so healing and anti-inflammatory, those with skin complaints such as dermatitis, eczema, rosacea, psoriasis, and keratosis pilaris can benefit from castor oil.

Organic Argan Oil ~
Argan Oil can be used from Hair to Toe* ~ moisturizer, hair serum, hand cream and more. Native to Morocco, argan oil is extracted from an argan nut of the argan tree. It has qualities that make skin soft, moisturized, and well-hydrated with a beautifully faint glow.
Keratosis pilaris or shaving rashes are solidified keratins which build up in hair follicles. It is a benign skin disorder caused by a lack of sebum and essential fatty acids, leading to congested hair follicles. Shaving bumps can occur on armpits, legs or the neck area - usually after a few sessions of plucking or shaving. Argan oil is rich in vitamin E, so it heals the skin of these bumps, while preventing any future occurrences.

Organic Avocado Oil ~
Reduces both itching and inflammation, avocado oil is a great counter for many possible issues that cause these symptoms. These include insect bites, eczema, psoriasis, sun exposure, keratosis pilaris or cracked heels. The main compound that provides topical relief when applied on the skin is monounsaturated oleic acid. This natural fat has a very thick texture, so it can stay and work on the skin for a long period of time.
Avocado oil is more than a powerful skin cosmetic agent; it can actually cure skin diseases such as psoriasis. One of the long-term topical treatments for this condition uses a cream based on avocado oil and vitamin B12. The avocado oil provides healthy fats that penetrate the skin and reduce inflammation while moisturizing it, which eliminates itchiness and dryness.

Organic Coconut Oil ~
One of the best carriers for keratosis pilaris is Coconut oil.
• Coconut oil is highly nutritious and emollient. Thus, it can hydrate the skin and maintain it that way. Hydration will also contribute to maintaining the skin elastic.
• The oil contains a fatty acid called Lauric acid. This one can dissolve those keratin plugs that block the pores.
• Coconut has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. That makes it good at reducing irritation and redness. It is good at preventing inflammations or infections of the hair follicles too.
• It absorbs really well into the skin.

Grapeseed Oil ~
~ Grapeseed oil contains linoleic acid which is great for helping to strengthen cell membranes and improving skin health. Grapeseed oil contains this fatty acid, so it can be a good solution to improve or cure various skin conditions
Grapeseed oil is excellent for treating oily or acne-prone skin. It’s high in linoleic acid, also known as omega-6 fatty acid, which in addition to fortifying the skin’s barrier and helping to reduce water loss from the skin, may help with acne. Grapeseed Oil is very gentle to your skin.
Contains powerful antioxidants, minerals, vitamins, and fatty acids that work together to combat skin issues. Safe to use on all skin types since it's non-comedogenic, and has a mild scent. It can also help alleviate redness for those with sensitive skin.

Suggested Regimen*:

There are three steps to my Keratosis Pilaris regimen*

Step ONE:
Wash every NIGHT the concerned areas with •THE BIRDCAGE• All Natural, gentle cold processed Handmade soap.

Step TWO: Exfoliation*

Exfoliation can do wonders for your skin!
Exfoliation is the process used to remove dead skin cells from the skin’s surface. There are a number of benefits to exfoliating your skin including:

• Increasing cell turnover
• Detoxifying the skin
• Getting rid of dead, dull skin cells
• Improving skin tone
• Killing bacteria and helping prevents breakouts/rashes
• Improving topical product penetration and treatment results

Kera Lemongrass & Lavender Scrub can be used alone or with a dry brush to affected areas* ~ use scrub twice a week*
Ingredients: Organic Sugar, Dead Sea Salt imported from Israel, Organic Coconut Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Lemongrass Essential Oil, Lavender Essential Oil w/ dried Organic Lavender

Organic Sugar ~
Sugar makes an amazing abrasive ingredient in scrubs. It's a natural humectant, so it retains moisture and ensures skin is kept hydrated, making it ideal for delicate and sensitive skin, especially because it melts away upon contact with water. Sugar is also known to be a pure, natural source of Glycolic Acid, also known as an AHA, which helps to break down dead, flaky skin and help support cell turnover. Sugar scrubs are extremely effective at treating mature skin while still being gentle and non-irritating on sensitive skin. Combined with nourishing oils, sugar scrubs can be used before or during bathing for a thorough exfoliating treatment that leaves skin smooth, soft and supple.

Dead Sea Salt ~
The Dead Sea is located at the lowest point on earth, which is thought to be the result of volcanic processes leading to a continuous dropping of land. It is one of the four saltiest bodies of water in the world. These special conditions are an outcome of its extreme geomorphological structure alongside a harsh desert climate. These create constant dramatic changes that form a landscape that is different from any other in the world. Also, the unique mineral content of the air, land, and water in the area is globally renowned for its therapeutic qualities, as is evident in that it has been a health resort for thousands of years.
Arthritis and asthma have been known to benefit from the air and water of the Dead Sea. The oxygen rate is 5% higher than the surrounding area, which also enhances rejuvenation and recovery.

Coconut Oil
~ it’s naturally anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and moisturizing. Coconut oil is composed primarily of nourishing fatty acids and is especially high in lauric acid. It also contains vitamin E and healthy fats, which help to make skin smooth.

Grapeseed Oil
~ contains powerful antioxidants, minerals, vitamins, and fatty acids that work together to combat skin issues. Safe to use on all skin types since it’s non-comedogenic, and has a mild scent. It can also help alleviate redness for those with sensitive skin.

• “Kera Scrub” sloughs off dead, dry skin to improve skin’s appearance and allows “Kera Cream” moisturizer to penetrate more effectively*
• Scrubs improve the movement of lymph fluid into the local lymph nodes to help remove waste products

Use “Kera Scrub” before or during shower twice a week*. Simply scrub with or without a brush in vertical/upward movements over your skin. Slowly work your way up and over your whole body, or simply concentrate on the affected area. It only takes a few minutes and your skin should feel smoother immediately.

Step THREE is very important* ~ Moisturization with Kera Cream:

Proper skin moisturization is key to healing your Keratosis Pilaris. It is important to use natural, chemical and toxin-free ingredients. Because remember, your skin is the largest surface organ in your body and most of what you put on your skin gets absorbed into your bloodstream within seconds. So if you are putting toxins on your skin, they are getting into your body ~ and instead of helping heal your skin, your body will have to fight off those toxins, ultimately doing more harm than good.
With some help from •THE BIRDCAGE• , Mother Nature has brought you a natural, soothing cream filled with all the best ingredients to treat KP.

Diet Suggestions to help treat Keratosis Pilaris:
• Remove Gluten & Soy from your diet
• Increase Omega 3 Intake, Eliminate or Reduce Dairy, Remove or Reduce Sugars, Increase your Fat Soluble Intake, Vitamin A, D, Vitamin E: Almonds, hazelnuts, flax seed oil, green leafy vegetables and Vitamin K: Cooked kale, raw swiss chard, dandelion greens, raw radicchio and spinach
